Tozudo Cabernet Franc- Discover the Microterroir

LOS ANTIGUOS – BLOCK #2

Los Antiguos is our smallest and steepest vineyard, covering only 2.5 acres, protected from the strong Zonda winds by an adjacent mountain to the north. In Block #2, the soils are primarily sandy-loam, formed from the accumulation of granitic material from the neighboring lot, Alto Cardones. The pronounced contour lines and the presence of granite facilitate soil drainage.

Block #2 is situated in the northern area of Los Antiguos, at an altitude of 7,950 feet above sea level, with a northwest orientation and a slope toward the southeast.

The name Los Antiguos comes from an adjacent ancient Inca burial site, where circular stones mark the tombs below, in which the Antiguos or “ancients” were buried in funerary urns richly decorated with images of animals.

The neighboring mountain serves as a barrier to the strong Zonda winds and raises the temperature in Los Antiguos, allowing the Cabernet Franc grapes to reach perfect ripeness.
