Our answer to a long mission to create a tribute to the iconic varietal of Salta. Tozudo Torrontés surprises for its expressiveness and elegance. The clays of Block # 2 of Ancentros and the extreme altitude bestows our Torrontés grapes an unparalleled freshness and acidity, bringing out the fruit notes you expect in a Torrontés. A single-wire support system, as opposed to the traditional parral, allows greater sun exposure and early ripening.
Ancestros is our only Torrontés lot, covering 7 acres and sheltered from the strong Zonda winds by pampas grass and an adjacent forest of native “algarrobo” or carob trees. In Block #2, the soils are primarily sandy-silt, with a 10º incline toward the east.
Block #2 is located in the northern area of Ancestros, at an altitude of 7,874 feet above sea level, oriented east-west with a slope toward the east.
The name Ancestros pays tribute to the ancient inhabitants of the Pucará Valley, honoring their deep understanding of nature and their resilience in cultivating this remote corner of the world.
Ancestros has been one of our biggest surprises: the Extreme Altitude significantly influences the character of the Torrontés grape, setting it apart from the Torrontés grown in Cafayate, where the vines are planted 2.700 feet below the Pucará Valley.
